Raw materials are the lifeblood of the galaxy. Construction, production and repair all rely on raw materials. The mine is an essential facility used to extract these valuable resources which are hidden beneath the surface of a planet. While a mine may be built in any city, it is only able to mine raw materials if the site has been prospected and a deposit found below the surface.

Teams of dirt haulers and LIN-series Miner droids work day and night within the mine coring and tunneling to retrieve the raw materials. On occasion the tunnels may lose integrity and collapse, resulting in an unfortunate loss of materials. Still, other times a new vein is discovered and mining continues as new resources are added to the deposit size. If the dirt haulers are lucky enough to have a LIN-series Miner droid around they stand a better chance of avoiding collapses and detecting new veins due to the droid's specialized sensors.
