One of the more exotic pod-racers on the market, the TurboDyne 99U, designed and manufactured by obscure company Elsinore-Cordova, is also one of the fastest. With a sleek, insect-like design, the racer boasts incredible traction and a highly advanced braking system, giving the craft a level of control that is unsurpassed among popular racers. The craft has two other artistic and impressive features: the cockpit, and the twin Turbodyne 99-U engines from which the craft gets its name. Unlike some of the blocky, aggressive cockpit designs of other racers, Elsinore-Cordova opted for a light, streamlined alternative. Two slender wings bracket the slim cockpit, which is in turn crested by a large, sail-like fin. This design, while still durable, gives a touch of class that appeals to collectors as well as racers who want to stand out from the crowds. The engines, while small compared to those of most pod-racers, feature curved fairings on either side of the turbines to direct air into the engines. While this also appeals to collectors, this is one of the most efficient cooling systems available, and allows the craft to reach almost unheard of speeds far in excess of most craft on the market due to the enhanced thrust vectoring this ‘super-charged’ intake creates.
