Pioneering Research on Kamino Returns Gene Enrichment

RNN - Tipoca City, Kamino – Members of the press joined Resistance Command at a much anticipated press conference today at the headquarters of Kamino Cloning Facilities, where a new clone variant was unexpectedly unveiled. The normally secretive Kaminoans have been particularly silent as of late, following a disastrous turn of events involving one of their research colonies. There was speculation in the immediate aftermath of that event that the rogue Penguani clone had been part of a secret project, and after much silence, the Kaminoans have publicly sought to distance themselves from those events. Instead, Koh Lon, senior geneticist, announced that the inaugural batches of the ARC Trooper line would enter the public domain on Y23 D311. Hundreds of units are said to be ready, with thousands more well on the way.

During the Clone Wars, ARC troopers (or Advanced Recon Commandos) were the best of the best, serving with distinction behind enemy lines and as the tip of the spear against overwhelming odds” Doctor Lon explained, “Kamino Cloning Facilities has been hard at work refining our original genetic template to enhance their best qualities and distill the spirit and abilities of those legendary soldiers for today’s military needs.” In addition to advanced flash training and conditioning, the new clones are promised to have increased longevity and retain their reflexes and muscle mass long beyond that of even the healthiest of humans. Aggregated data files were on hand for potential clients to review the statistics and projections for themselves.

When asked about connections to this project and the events on the Comet, another representative repeated the sentiments of the Governor “What happened is truly lamentable, and we at Kamino Medical Laboratories are doing everything possible to assist in the capture of that rogue specimen.  This includes the formation of a vast Bounty Hunter's network on the planet Issor with the sole aim of locating and capturing L4anc3r. If anybody is able to rehabilitate the Penguani clone, naturally it would be us. For this reason, we have authorised a 25 million credit bounty on L4anc3r above and beyond the guild bounty, dependent on him being brought in alive and delivered to the city of Fortuna.”

For those new to Kamino Cloning, the historic company has been a subsidiary of Kamino Medical Laboratories for several years. Following the fall of the New Republic, many Kaminoan scientists went into hiding, fearing being once more pressed into Imperial service. The ensuing skirmishes caused significant damage to Tipoca City, its infrastructure, and the cloning facilities left behind, and it was only through partnership with the Resistance-affiliated Kamino Medical Laboratories that the famed cloners of Kamino were able to return to their independent work. In return for material assistance, the geneticists agreed to the formation of an ethical oversight committee, and to lend their medical expertise to the Resistance and its allies for the duration of their partnership.

In time, researchers at the University of Arkanis are hopeful that the Resistance partnership with the Kaminoans will bear fruit for the whole Galaxy. "We're on the cutting edge" Kaius Perkett began "The knowledge shared with us has far reaching consequences for galactic medicine, and the possibilities are quite literally endless." When prompted for further information, Professor Perkett was eager to describe a number of ongoing projects in fields such as virology and prosthetics. “It is our hope that the cloning technology might be applied to help trauma victims regrow lost limbs, and some of our colleagues are even exploiting it in order to study the infamous Derra Virus. Whilst this work is still far from complete, we at the University of Arkanis are all extremely optimistic.”
