Rebel Broadcasting Group – On Day 215 Year 26 the Rebel Alliance welcomes former Director of Rebel Alliance Intelligence, Jonas Kanuteau as the newly elected Supreme Commander of the Rebel Alliance. Jonas Kanuteau replaced Orion Chran, who served as the Supreme Leader for five years. Orion Chran had plans to retire and did not enter the race.
After a week long election Jonas Kanuteau emerged with 76% of the popular vote, chosen by the Citizens to lead the Rebel Alliance.
The campaigning season for the office of Supreme Commander opened on Day 204 Year 26. Jonas Kanuteau and Darcks Galvan both decided to run for the top position. Darcks Galvan was the Chief of Military Operations and longtime serving Military Officer. He faced, Jonas Kanuteau, the Director of Rebel Alliance Intelligence.
Mr. Kanuteau’s campaign ran on some restructuring of the Rebel Alliance from inventory to salaries, a different approach to relationships with allies to build a universal location for shared resources, tasks, and engagements. He wanted to start an incentive program for allies and include citizens to help contribute and build with the development of the Rebel Alliance. He also intended to establish war games with allies to expand on improving efforts and building a more unified alliance. He wanted to focus on mining within the civilian sector and increasing production. Within the Military, his vision was to expand training and ensure the system defenses are finished and well stocked. He also hoped to strengthen relationships with other groups within the galaxy and establish a trading network operated by the Rebel Alliance.
Mr. Galvan started his campaign with his vision of discipline, prioritizing the military and logistical readiness, and readiness drills and sector security. He wanted to push planetary defense reviews and garrison reinforcements within the first 100 days of his term, work towards a more centralized readiness command to ensure fast and decisive response to threats, and focus on capturing strategic zones and assets in combat zones. His plans differ from his opponents when it comes to intelligence, as he wanted at tiered clearance model, prioritize external threat analysis and counter-subterfuge operation, and enhanced autonomy, under discreet oversight. He also wanted to develop a “Citizen Stability Package”, restore a transparent budget line, and ensure every mining project or construction project supports strategic readiness. He proposed reinforcing joint strike teams, conducting bilateral training ops, and forming clear chain of allied responsibility. He also wanted to establish a “Galactic Trade Liaison Corps”, reintroduce cross-faction leadership councils and work with every faction without compromising the values of the Rebel Alliance.
With strong backgrounds of both candidate Kanuteau and Galvan, many citizens found it difficult to decisively pick a candidate. To aid in the process, during the campaigning period there was a question and answer session along with a live debate to which not only Rebel Alliance Citizens attended, but also citizens of the Alliance along with other special guests.
With the election results announced, and Jonas Kanuteau the new Supreme Commander, Jonas Kanuteau took the chance to thank his supporters.
Later in the day, Jonas Kanuteau sworn into his role as Supreme Commander. As is customary, he also gave his first speech to the Rebel Alliance as Supreme Commander.
"I would like to thank all of you for the faith you've put in me, I won't let you down! For those of you who did not vote for me, thank you for the opportunity to earn your vote and trust. Even if you have doubts for my vision, I encourage you to participate and bring me new ideas, so we can move forward. I am excited for us to start on this new journey and make great things happen, and we can only do this as a united community."
Jonas Kanuteau closed by thanking Darcks Galvan for a good campaign and to the Citizens for putting their faith behind him.
