A joint product of MandalMotors and SoroSuub, the Fang-class starfighter relies upon speed and maneuverability to prevail in battle. Based upon the design concept of the successful Kom'rk-class, the Fang achieves exceptional vectored thrust capabilities through a swiveling S-foil configuration. The forked delta wings rotate around a central fuselage, with a powerful static ion engine providing baseline propulsion and twin wing-mounted vernier thrusters supplying advanced steering.
As a result, the craft has exceptional flight characteristics in both atmospheric and vacuum conditions. This preference for agility over shielding made the Fang-class enormously popular with Clan Du'trachek of Concord Dawn, who acquired the starfighters in vast quantities. The Fang-class was discontinued following the introduction of Imperial technology to the Mandalore navy, although a great number of these starfighters were obtained by Black Sun and circulated in underworld markets.
Commonly known as the "Protector fighter," the Fang-class brings to bear dual wing-mounted heavy lasers and an inconspicuous ventral torpedo launcher. Presenting a thin profile, the Fang is best engaged from the side, which prompted Mandalorians to develop counter-maneuvers like the Concordia Standoff to avoid being flanked during dogfights. While the sophisticated flight controls require a considerable amount of training to master, the Fang-class' versatility and sheer velocity have earned the respect of collectors and mercenaries alike.
