Flaws in the KRT design inhibit its basic speed, traction control and guidance systems. The only redeeming feature is not intentional, but one that results from the combination of systems used in its construction. The KRT has a high Top-Boost threshold which allows the podracer to accelerate to extreme speeds well past the intended limits for the craft. As a result, the KRT overheats very easily, a problem that can only be overcome with expensive upgrades. The cockpit is split into two separate compartments; the actual driver’s seat in one section and the diagnostic computers that monitor the podracer's systems in another.
The KRT found its place in the galaxy being used in "death races." As if it isn't difficult enough to drive podracers under normal circumstances, these underground races allowed the competitors to fire on each other while racing. However, the KRT 410C's moderate armor and over-modding potential made it a suitable choice for exactly this type of competition. As its other advantages began to gain recognition, twin light blasters were added to newer models and the KRT became almost exclusively used in these high-risk bouts.
