There are an unfortunate few that have found themselves in the deep space of the Strabin sector and stumbled upon an old outpost surrounded by a junkyard of ships and station modules. Dubbed “The Rat’s Nest” by a scavenger whose name no one bothered remembering, the trading station is at best a fortress built of scrounged steel and segments of scrapped starships welded together into a decently defensible platform scattered with decaying spires and cavernous docking bays. At its worst, it’s a hodgepodge of floating scrap metal. However described, this old station hub is the haunt of junkers called the Rift Rats.
A crew of scavengers, thieves and drifters, the Rift Rats are known to infest the lower parts of the galaxy. Criminals to many, scum to some, and friends to few, these galactic lowlifes are a loose-knit group at best and operate under the radar of the major governments. Driven by desperate times and a heaping dose of greed, the Rats regularly resort to all manner of thievery and cunning to scavenge their next piece of scrap and scrounge up the next credit.
