Skrees are native inhabitants of asteroid fields and are a type of antagonist which have appeared in several folk songs and tales over the millennia. Roosting from asteroids, these predators will quietly build their nests as they wait for prey. Once prey enters the area under its roost, the Skree will proceed to dive-bomb the intruder, resulting in either the Skree disabling it or the Skree escaping by disappearing into the asteroid field.  A popular warning from parents throughout the Galaxy is “Stay in your bed or the Skree will get you”.
